ICADE OPALE
This large through-hall houses two elevator cores at its center, serving the apartments. The design and decoration were conceived to make the space welcoming and to avoid a “tunnel” effect, drawing inspiration from the atmosphere of a hotel lobby.
The black granite of the façade extends into the interior, creating a natural connection with the building’s architecture.
Large smoked mirrors reflect the gardens and visually expand the hall through a subtle play of horizontal lines.
Full-height oak panels frame the elevator doors, bringing warmth and a sense of refinement to the otherwise mineral environment.
Lighting fixtures run from floor to ceiling, enhancing the perspective, and converge at the center to evoke a large chandelier, further dramatizing the space.
The double-sided mailboxes are designed as freestanding furniture, integrated into the generous volume of the hall rather than simply mounted on a wall.
Finally, the floor in ceramic stoneware designed by Patricia Urquiola, with textures inspired by textile patterns, completes the design. Its layout suggests pathways and creates two “rugs,” guiding circulation while reinforcing the sense of a carefully curated, warm space open to the garden.
