RESIDENTIEL - LA GRANDE MOTTE
GREEN FLAT

At the top of an iconic pyramidal building designed by urban planner Jean Balladur, this 40 sqm 1960s apartment reads as a pavilion suspended above the Mediterranean. Fully open to the landscape, it enjoys continuous sunlight throughout the year.

The L-shaped layout has been opened up to free perspectives and allow light to circulate seamlessly.

The bathroom extends directly from the bedroom, conceived in the manner of a hotel suite. The bathtub, custom-built on site in Siporex and finished with a white marble plaster, establishes an open and contemporary relationship between the spaces.

Glazed on all façades, except for the mineral wall in the living room, the apartment offers near-total transparency. The artworks have therefore been suspended from the ceiling, preserving panoramic views while introducing an artistic presence.

The living area is structured around a textured wall made of sand projected onto a glued surface, its finish evoking the ripples shaped by the wind across the dunes. The dining set designed in 1966 by Richard Schultz for Knoll has been fully restored: sandblasted cast aluminum frames and seats and backs re-strung with white nautical rope, in dialogue with the maritime setting.

The result is a modern interior in which architecture, materiality, and landscape engage in a deliberate and continuous dialogue.
